How long do you usually wait for gallbladder surgery?

I have gallstones and they i've started having pain in my gallbladder area. I went to my pcp and he gave me a referral to a surgeon and said the surgeon will decide if I will get it out. So when I tried to make the appointment to see the surgeon they said the next available appointment was in August. So am I just supposed to wait for 3 months in pain? My doctor gave me pain pills but they haven't worked at all. What should I do? There is no where else I can go because this is the place my insurance covers.
